Ariana Elegado scored 21 of her game-high 27 points in the second half to lead the Cal Poly women's basketball team to a thrilling 72-62 win at Oregon State on Monday night.
Cal Poly evened its record at 1-1, while Oregon State dropped to 1-1.
The Mustangs led 29-26 at the half behind 8 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots from Molly Schlemer, as well as 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists from Kayla Griffen.
Schlemer finished with 10 points and 8 boards, including 6 offensive rebounds. Griffen poured in 15 points in the game to go with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Kristen Ale added 10 points to give Cal Poly four players with double-digits in points.
Elegado finished 10 for 20 shooting and hit 4 of her 6 three-point shots.
The Mustangs shot just 36% from the floor, but hit 6 of 15 from three-point range for a 40% clip. They also made 12 of their 17 free throws.
Oregon State made just 36 % of its shots and shot 25% from long distance (7-28).
The Mustangs were outrebounded 49-47, but turned the ball over only 9 times to the Beavers' 19 turnovers.
The Cal Poly women host San Diego on Saturday at 2pm in their home opener.
