Elevated fire danger

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. Through Monday, we can expect very warm and dry conditions, low humidity levels and occasional gusty winds, especially inland. This will produce an elevated fire danger for the interior portions of southwest California.

The upper level high pressure and weak onshore flow over the inland areas will produce some of the hottest temperatures so far this year through Monday. Near record highs can be expected in the valleys and foothills.

Local gusty northerly winds can be expected in the mountains through Monday evening. This includes gusty sundowner winds for Santa Barbara County and Santa Ynez Range. The strongest winds are expected Monday evening.
