Ernest Righetti High School hosts Diversity Program

Students, staff, and parents at Ernest Righetti High School have a better understanding of diversity and conflict resolution. The school held a three-day "Diversity Program."
Students heard from a bullying expert and discussed historical and current examples of violence involving ignorance and prejudice. Parents were also invited to get involved.
"The purpose really of it is to build capacity within our students as far as leadership, good understanding of where they are in life, and how to build a community environment that is positive," said Steve Molina, the school principal.
Students say they learned a lot throughout the program. "I want to be more open minded and understand that yes, we are different, but we're also the same. We're all people. We all have a similar humanity. I just want to be a little more open minded," said Izamar Diaz, a student at Righetti High School.
The program wrapped up Wednesday, and school administrators say they hope students will take what they learned and build a safer community.
