South African Ernie Els entered the final round at the Open Championship in fifth place, six shots back of leader Adam Scott. Els shot a two under par while the golfers in front of him were all over par in Lytham, St. Annes, England. A bogey by Scott on the 18th hole secured a fourth Major Championship for Els.

Scott was still four shots ahead of Els with four holes to play but after eight straight holes with nothing worse than par, Scott bogeyed the final four holes. The Australian had to fight back tears on the 18th green as he finished one shot behind Els.

Final Leaderboard:

Ernie Els -7

Adam Scott -6

Tiger Woods -3

Brandt Snedekar -3
