SAN MATEO, Calif. (AP) - San Mateo County's former chief probation officer has pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing child pornography while still on the job.
The San Mateo County Times reports (http://bit.ly/WeWGT1) that Stuart Forrest entered the plea on Friday, a day after he was charged with two felony counts.
San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe has turned the prosecution over to Attorney General Kamala Harris to avoid the appearance of any conflict of interest.
Wagstaffe and Forrest served together on law-enforcement commissions.
An outside judge has also been brought in to hear the case.
