LOS ANGELES (AP) - Prosecutors say a former Los Angeles County sheriff's sergeant has been sentenced to more than 9 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a woman and inappropriately searching two others.

A Los Angeles judge sentenced 42-year-old Mark Fitzpatrick on Friday. A jury convicted him in October.

Charges stemmed from three traffic stops in May 2008 while Fitzpatrick was working out of the sheriff's Compton station.

He was convicted of penetration under threat to arrest or deport, sexual battery by restraint, and other sexual assault charges.
