SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - A California company has begun streaming video from the world's largest panda preserve.
Explore.org founder Charlie Annenberg Weingarten says the first ever live video feed from China's Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Ya'an (yaw-on) was launched Wednesday night.
The project is part of a multimillion initiative called Pearls of the Planet showcasing animals and nature around the world.
Two high definition cameras are focusing on four toddler pandas. In coming weeks, two more cameras will watch five cubs.
Live video will be streamed daily between 5 p.m. and 4 a.m. PST at explore.org/pandas. There will also be viewing parties on Facebook each night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. PST.
Weingarten says Pandas International and a campaign ambassador from China will answer questions submitted by viewers.
