A modified jet carrying the space shuttle Endeavour landed at Edwards Air Force Base Thursday. It will take a farewell tour of California Friday ending its journey in Los Angeles.
That's it will be permanently displayed at a museum.
Some on the central coast will be among the last to see the shuttle in the sky. NASA is predicting the duo to fly to through Vandenberg Air Force Base at approximately 11:30 Friday morning. The exact timing and path will vary depending on weather conditions which could cause delays.
The tentative plan is for the shuttle to take off from Edwards Air Force Base between 8:15 and 9:15 in the morning.
The shuttle will then fly northbound to Sacramento and then to San Francisco.
As the duo heads south, it'll make its way through the central coast, flying over Vandenberg Air Force Base.
According to NASA the modified 7-47 can fly as low as 15-hundred feet, to put that into perspective, that's only 25-feet higher than the Cuesta Grade.
The Endeavour will make its way south, for an arrival ceremony at LAX. After landing at LAX on Friday the Endeavour will undergo several weeks of preparations to then be moved in October to the California Science Center. A controversial move through the streets of Los Angeles because in order to clear the route crews will have to cut down as many as 400 trees.
The Endeavour left Florida on Wednesday.
People are following the shuttle by posting their sightings via social media using #spottheshuttle and #OV105.
