A Santa Ynez man dies in a plane crash in San Diego County.
Sheriff's investigators say Van Snow's plane went down Thursday afternoon near the airport in Borrego Springs.
The NBC station in bakersfield, KGET, tells us Snow was piloting the plane when it went down. They spoke with Snow's sister, who says he had been racing his plane, "The Rocket", for about a year.
Gayle Snow Stevens says he always knew there was a chance an accident could happen. "He said, 'If I die doing this, I will die happy because I would be doing something I love,'" said Gayle.
Gayle says her brother grew up in Bakersfield before moving to Santa Ynez.
