A family is grieving after rescuers recovered the body of a man who went missing at Lake Cachuma 10 days ago.
Officials say a group fishing Monday afternoon spotted the body of 22 year-old Isaiah Sanchez from El Rio.
His family gathered at the lake every day waiting for answers.
It was the news the family was waiting and hoping they'd receive, yet still devastating to get confirmation that Isaiah's body was found.
"Right now, there's a sense of relief and sadness at the same time. You know, 10 days is a long time to wait for this moment," said Richard Munoz, Isaiah's uncle.
While rescue efforts included searches by land, air, and water from multiple agencies, Isaiah's body was found 100 yards from where he was last seen, by a group fishing in a pontoon boat.
The Sheriff's Office said at one point the search was suspended because the water was so murky, there was zero visibility.
The family says they are thankful for the numerous search efforts as well as the community.
"So many people have helped out and so many people have offered support," Munoz says.
Just before 8:00 p.m. on July 11, Isaiah was on the lake with two other men when their boat had engine problems.
Officials say he tried to swim the 50 feet to shore, but had difficulty. Another man jumped in to help and was rescued by County park rangers.
"It's just another reminder that on the water you just have to be very safe and maybe what appears to be close distance to swim may not be and not to take chances," says Kelly hoover with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
Munoz says, "Now we can move on and the family can find some rest and peace."
The family has set up a memorial fund in Isaiah's name.
