The historic Western Tavern restaurant in Guadalupe will serve it's last meal this weekend out of the original location. The old building on Guadalupe Street is closing for good on Saturday. The restaurant will open in it's new location October 29th.
The original location was once the Palace Hotel building but in 1958 Clarence and Rosalie Minetti, along with Rosalie's cousins Richard and Jean Maretti restored the dormant building and the Far Western Tavern as we know it was born.
The Far Western Tavern has earned widespread acclaim over the years. In 2009, Sunset Magazine named it one of the West's best barbecue restaurants. The Food Network show BBQ with Bobby Flay featured the Minetti family and the Far Western Tavern as ambassadors of Santa Maria Style Barbecue in 2005.
The new location will open with lunch on October 29, 2012. Dinner and lunch will be served daily, with breakfast/brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Look for the new Far Western at 300 Clark Avenue in Old Town Orcutt.
