The San Luis Obispo Downtown Association and the Farmers Market Association have come to a tentative agreement that would put the farmers back in control of the market's produce area.
The Downtown Association President says the two groups jointly developed a plan over the weekend that will be reviewed at another meeting tomorrow morning. The plan returns management responsibilities of the produce vendors to the Farmers Market Association if they agree to certain terms set forth by the Downtown Association.
The recent announcement that the Downtown Association would take over the produce section created a storm of controversy. The Farmers Market Association has controlled that part of the market for the last 27 years. The Downtown Association had expressed concern over liability and parking issues.
