A fatal two car crash on Highway 46 Saturday night killed one man and sent three others to the hospital.
The California Highway Patrol says the two car crash happened just before 7:30 Saturday night on Highway 46, about two miles east of Highway 41 near Shandon. Two cars were traveling eastbound on Highway 46. One was a Toyota Scion and the other was a Honda Odyssey. The Toyota began to slow down. The Honda traveling behind moved over to pass. The CHP says as the Honda tried to pass, the Toyota made a sharp left turn and crashed into the Honda.
One passenger, 67, in the Toyota was airlifted to Twin Cities Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two other passengers suffered minor injuries and the driver suffered major injuries. All three were also taken to Twin Cities Hospital.
The driver of the Honda escaped uninjured. No names have been released. The people involved were from Modesto and Salinas.
The CHP is sill investigating the crash.
