The father of the San Miguel man accused of shooting a pregnant woman took the stand today.
Steven Smith is facing two counts of attempted murder for the 2009 shooting in Paso Robles.
The woman was pregnant with Smith's child. Both survived.
Today, witnesses testified Smith was an honest, non-violent man.
Smith's father also took the stand, testifying that he saw the woman hit Smith on three occasions.
"She turned and slapped him, and this was later on, but that's when I told her that I'm not giving you any more money, leave us alone, go have the child," said Russell Smith, Steven's father.
Russell also said they were going to fight for custody of the child once she gave birth and proved it was his.
