A man's mental health issues are linked to similar problems in his offspring.
A study of more than 31,000 Norwegian children finds 3% of their fathers had high levels of psychological distress while the babies were still in utero.
There was a strong link between an expectant fathers' stress levels and emotional and behavioral problems when the kids reached age 3.
The study authors suggest identifying potential mental health problems during pregnancy can give doctors a chance to treat children as soon as possible.
