SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted a Ukrainian man for drunkenly disrupting a Delta Air Lines flight and trying to bribe the FBI agents who arrested him.
The indictment returned Wednesday against 46-year-old Anatoliy N. Baranovich charges him with damaging and disabling an aircraft, interfering with a flight crew, bribery of a public official, and assaulting and resisting officers.
Authorities say Baranovich woke up during his flight from Boston to Salt Lake City on Oct. 15 and began yelling because he believed the wing of the airplane was on fire. He was restrained by passengers.
The indictment says he later offered federal agents a $6,534 bribe.
Baranovich told investigators he was visiting family in the Ukraine and got drunk for 50 straight days. He was headed home to Portland, Ore.
