A strong but moisture starved system is moving over the area. It'll produce up to 0.35 inch of rain over San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.

By this evening snow levels will be near 2000 feet with the potential of stronger showers producing snow flurries below that level.

There is a winter weather advisory for the mountains of Santa Barbara County and the Cuyama Valley. Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected between 3000 and 4000 feet in the mountains. Expect 1 to 4 inches of snow in the foothill locations above the Cuyama Valley would not be surprised to see local snow accumulations up to an inch on the valley floor.

Any showers will end late tonight then dry and cool weather will prevail Saturday through Sunday. It will be very chilly Saturday and Sunday nights and frost advisories may have to be issued for coastal sections of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.
