Fewer than half of women attend recommended doctor visits after childbirth

Fewer than half of women attend the recommended doctor visits after childbirth.

Experts recommend a six-week postpartum appointment with an OB/GYN to talk about healing and any future health risks.

In a new study, researchers found only 50 percent of women with complicated pregnancies and 44 percent with uncomplicated pregnancies saw their OB.

Only about half saw their primary care doctors within a year of childbirth, which is also recommended.
