KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - A fiery collision on a highway in Afghanistan has left 45 bus passengers dead.
Officials say the bus struck the wreckage of a truck that had been attacked by Taliban insurgents in southern Afghanistan. The oil tanker was left in the middle of a narrow road for several days after the insurgent attack, because police considered the area too dangerous to enter.
This morning, according to a provincial police chief, the bus smashed into the truck and burst into flames.
A spokesman for the governor of Kandahar province says in addition to the 45 people killed, 10 others were hurt.
