Fifth Annual Move to Build Run raises almost $7000 for PolyHouse

A group of Cal Poly students is literally one step closer to finishing a home renovation project.

The Fifth Annual Move to Build 5K/10K Walk and Run was held Saturday morning at Cal Poly.

Proceeds benefit PolyHouse. It's an annual grad student project that renovates a local disadvantaged or disabled person's home.

The event raised around $6500, all of which will help fund the renovation project.

"They're building this place from the ground up so every bit helps. They have to pay for permits for the construction, all sorts of materials. They've redone kitchens so they need kitchen appliances, the flooring, the counter tops, they do everything. It's going to go towards making this person's home so much better and so much more accessible for them," said Eric Goldsmith, the Marketing Team Project Manager.

Goldsmith says anyone can help with the actual renovation project. It's a two-weekend commitment. The planning for the renovation is done by industrial and manufacturing engineering grad students.
