Caltrans is likely to get final approval this morning from a superior court judge in Santa Barbara to continue building a suicide barrier on the Cold Spring Bridge on Highway 154. The judge issued a tentative ruling on Friday in favor of Caltrans.
The bridge links Santa Ynez to Santa Barbara and has seen 54 suicides since it was built in 1963.
Caltrans started installing a suicide barrier nearly a year ago, but a judge stopped the project last July, saying the public needed more time to comment on its design.
