The Santa Barbara County Fire Department was called out to a vegetation fire at the summit of Hwy 154 around 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

The fire is being named the "Lookout Fire." It's not clear how many acres have burned but structures are threatened. Santa Barbara County Fire crews are being assisted by crews from Santa Barbara City Fire, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department and the California Highway Patrol.

There are live power lines down and a full structure protection is in place.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department is in a full search and rescue evacuation of people in nearby homes.

According to the CHP, Hwy 154 is closed and there is a hard closure at 192 and Hwy 154 on the Santa Barbara side.
