Santa Barbara County fire crews have contained a house fire in Vandenberg Village.

A department spokesman says that fire sparked around 8:30 a.m. Monday on the 100 block of Galaxy Way. He says flames broke out in an upstairs bedroom. The homeowner says he heard the smoke detector go off and when he went upstairs, he opened the bedroom door and saw flames. He then called 911. His wife and daughter were not home at the time. He was able to get out safely.

Fire crews say the fire was contained to the upstairs bedroom. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
