The fire is out, but the investigation has just begun after flames destroy a garage in Morro Bay. Two people were injured, including a firefighter.

The fire broke out around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of Ironwood Avenue. When fire crews arrived, the garage was fully involved.

The family was in the house at the time of the fire and tried to put out the flames before firefighters arrived. Witnesses say crews had it out by around 9:00 p.m.

Crews were able to stop the flames from spreading to the house. "It became a defensive attack nearly from the start. There was a lot of ammunition that was going off in rapid succession. Fortunately, no one was injured from that. We did have two minor injuries. One by a citizen with some smoke inhalation. The second was a minor burn to a firefighter," said Morro Bay Fire Chief Mike Pond. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
