Fire in Santa Maria leaves home uninhabitable

Fire caused major damage to a home in Santa Maria on Tuesday morning.

It happened at around 10:30 a.m. on the 200 block of East Fesler.

Firefighters say they arrived to find flames outside the house, spreading into the attic. Crews were able to contain the fire in about 15 minutes.

Damage is estimated at about $75,000 and firefighters say the house is uninhabitable.

No one was home at the time of the fire.
