San Luis Obispo Fire investigators have determined the cause of a fire at an apartment building.

The fire broke out in an apartment complex on Pismo Street in San Luis Obispo Thursday afternoon.

Investigators tell KSBY News the fire was accidentally started after a couch had been placed on top of a natural gas floor furnace.

All of the people living inside were able to escape, one person had to jump out of second story window.

However, crews tell us a dog died in the fire.

Investigators found smoke detectors after the fire, but they were too badly burned to tell if they had been working properly at the time of the fire.
