Fire near Hearst Castle contained at approximately 6 acres

Crews will remain on scene for the next two days cleaning up after a vegetation fire broke out near Hearst Castle early Tuesday morning.

CAL FIRE says about 60 firefighters, from SLO County and also some from San Diego, battled the blaze, which broke out a little after 5:00 a.m. Tuesday and was burning in heavy and dense vegetation on steep, hilly terrain.

The fire was burning about 3/4 of a mile from Hearst Castle, but the castle was never threatened, officials say.

It was contained to about six acres.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause is under investigation.
