Fire officials are still investigating the cause of a house fire that happened in Santa Barbara Friday night.
It happened just after 8 p.m. on Aliso Street. Neighbors noticed the fire behind the home, told the people in the home, and called 911.
The Santa Barbara City Fire Department responded and started hosing down the back of the house. Officials say the back windows in the home had broken from the heat, and the fire was moving into the structure.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to just the back part of the house. The dining room, kitchen, and a storage room had the most damage, and smoke damage was reported throughout the home.
Fire investigators were called to the scene, and they say the fire originated outside of the structure. Investigator Jim Austin says the cause of the fire is suspicious in nature and they are still investigating.
