Fire officials investigating small fire at local school

Santa Barbara city fire crews get a handle on a small fire at a local elementary school.

Fire officials say at about 5:05a.m. Tuesday morning, firefighters were called to Cleveland Elementary School on Alameda Padre Serra in Santa Barbara. A small fire was found on the outside of a classroom at the back of the campus, and was quickly knocked down.

Some smoke from the small fire traveled into the classroom, damaging part of the room.

Fire investigators are still on scene, trying to determine what caused the fire.

Classes there will resume as normal on Tuesday.
