The Denny's location in San Luis Obispo is closed until further notice, after a fire ripped through the restaurant on Thursday.
The two-alarm fire started around 7:15 a.m., on the 200 block of Madonna Road.
San Luis Obispo firefighters said it started in an electrical closet on the outside of the building, and spread up into the attic, and out the roof.
"Once they opened the roof the attic was fully-involved," said Battalion Chief, Neal Berryman. "We were able to get crews below, to put out the fire."
Crews put out the fire within a half-hour, but remained on scene for several hours to investigate the cause of the fire, and assess the damage.
Firefighters also had to remove 25 thousand pounds of food from the Denny's refrigerator.
One investigator estimated the cost of damage at 100 to 150 thousand dollars.
The owner of the Denny's wants his loyal customers to know he will reopen the restaurant as soon as possible, but there was significant smoke and water damage to the dining area and kitchen.
