Firefighters investigating house fire in Goleta area

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a house fire that started Monday afternoon in Goleta. It happened around 2:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Sherwood Drive, which is in the unincorporated area of Goleta. Firefighters received numerous calls from people who could see the smoke as far as a mile away. Firefighters arrived at the scene and saw smoke and flames in the back of a multi-story, wood-framed home. Crews were able to put the fire out in 10 minutes. They were able to contain the fire to the rear deck and an office area in the home. There was smoke damage throughout the home, particularly in a loft area that was right above the fire. No one was injured, and no one was in the home at the time.
