Firefighters are investigating the cause of a house fire that broke out Thursday afternoon.

It started around 2:45 PM at a home on the 700 block of Pismo Street.

When crews arrived, flames could be seen coming from the first and second floors.

Firefighters say the older home's construction made battling the fire difficult.

They were initially told someone may be inside the house, but no one was found.

Firefighters say a pet may have died in the fire, but no people were hurt.
