GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) - Firefighters battling a house fire in Garden Grove have rescued a dog and two cats from the smoke-filled structure.

The Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/Mym8cy) reports that the blaze was reported about 9:15 a.m. Thursday.

Battalion Chief Chuck Green says heavy smoke emanating from a back bedroom permeated the house.

Two residents and a Labrador got out safely but firefighters had to rescue the cats, Magic and Patches, and a pit bull named Clyde. Firefighters gave the animals oxygen to treat them for smoke inhalation.

The blaze was extinguished in 30 minutes.
