Santa Barbara County Sheriff's investigators, firefighters and an ambulance responded to a home on Pauline Court in Santa Maria on Monday on a report of an accidental shooting.

Fire officials say someone at the home had been cleaning a pistol, when the pistol fired, striking that person in the chest.

That person was taken to the hospital for treatment.
