Santa Barbara police now have their first female motorcycle officer on patrol.
Officer Tiffany Keller passed an intense, two-week course Tuesday morning at the Earl Warren Fairgrounds in Santa Barbara.
The tests included being able to pick up a 750-pound bike.
Santa Barbara Sgt. Riley Harwood said Officer Keller had never driven a motorcycle before taking the course.
She is 32-years-old and has been on the SBPD for more than four years.
Officer Keller will be assigned part-time to the motorcycle unit where she will be used for special events and directed patrols. She will also continue her previous assignment patrolling the city in a squad car.
"We are very proud ," said Sgt. Harwood regarding Officer Keller's achievement.
