Five Central Coast baseball players earned the distinction of being named All-CIF First Team on Tuesday by the CIF Southern Section Office.
Arroyo Grande senior Kyle Brown was All-CIF in Division 2. The left-hander also picked up PAC 7 League Pitcher of the Year honors. He went 7-3 with a 1.61 ERA on the mound. He struck out 90 in 78 1/3 innings and limited opponents to an .187 batting average. Brown also led the league with 4 home runs to go with 21 RBI and a .295 batting average. The Eagles went 19-7-3 and earned a share of the league title.
Templeton High's Michael Frigon earned First Team honors in Division 5. The senior was instrumental to the Eagles' 19-5 season that included their first-ever Los Padres League outright title and a berth in the CIF quarterfinals. Frigon, who hit in the lead-off spot, hit .512 with 33 runs scored, 41 hits and 17 walks. He recorded a .602 on-base percentage and stole 25 bases.
Three local players were named to the First Team in Division 7. Coast Union's Quinten Raethke was honored after he hit .407 with 19 RBI and 21 stolen bases. The junior also went 4-3 on the mound with a 2.85 ERA. He struck out 63 in 51 2/3 innings for the 15-7 Broncos.
The Dunn Earwigs also landed two players on the First Team in Chandler Hughes and Bryce McKibbin. Hughes, a sophomore, hit .444 with 13 stolen bases. Mc Kibbin hit .412 with 16 RBI and a .577 on-base percentage. The junior walked 19 times and struck out just 4 times. Dunn went 14-5 and advanced to the CIF semifinals for the third year in a row.
