Five area teams advance to CIF Quarterfinals, five fall in second round

Five out of the ten Central Coast baseball and softball teams won their CIF second round games on Tuesday to advance to the CIF quarterfinals.

BASEBALL
Division 2
Arroyo Grande lost 9-2 at #2 Temecula Valley
-Eagles finish the season 19-7-3
Division 5
Templeton crushed Big Bear 16-6
-Eagles play Ontario Christian in Friday's quarterfinals, coin flip on Wednesday determines host team
Santa Ynez blanked Shadow Valley 11-0
-Pirates play #4 Citrus Valley in Friday's quarterfinals, coin flip on Wednesday determines host team
Division 7
Coast Union blanked Concordia on the road 3-0
-Coast hosts #1 Nuview Bridge on Friday
Dunn edged Avalon 6-4 on the road
- Dunn plays Riverside Prep in the quarterfinals, coin flip on Wednesday determines host team

SOFTBALL
Division 2
Righetti softball beat Grand Terrace 6-2
- Warriors play at California in Thursday's quarterfinals
Division 5
Nipomo lost 5-1 at Silverado
- The Titans finished the season with a 19-5 record
Morro Bay lost 11-9 at home to Montebello
- Pirates finished the season 12-16 overall
Division 7
Orcutt Academy lost at home 6-3 to Crossroads Christian
- Orcutt finishes the season 20-5
Coast Union fell at home 7-3 to Faith Baptist
- The Lady Broncos ended the season 15-5 overall
