SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Sacramento police say they arrested five people and issued 23 citations during a sweep of one of the city's rougher neighborhoods.
Sacramento police Sgt. Norm Leong says the effort Thursday night in the city's Meadowview neighborhood comes as part of a move to cut down on crime and gang activity in the area.
Leong says a 15-year-old girl was killed in the area in January and a a man was shot a few weeks ago. Police also receive a high number of 911 calls from the neighborhood.
The two men arrested during the sweep were taken into custody for gun possession. Three others were arrested on misdemeanor warrant arrests.
