Five Bearcats named to SLO County's team for FCA All-Star Football Classic

Five All-League Paso Robles High athletes are the first five players named to San Luis Obispo County's team for the FCA-All-Star Football Classic. The third annual game, which pits the top fifty players from San Luis Obispo County against the top fifty seniors from Northern Santa Barbara County, is set for Saturday, June 1 at Lompoc High School.

The Bearcats will be represented by running back Colton Madrigal, offensive and defensive lineman Colby Kerns, offensive tackle John Katz, linebacker Josh Hayley and safety Kris Paqueno.

"Being an All-Star means a lot. It's something that I've always wanted to do through my life. I always wanted to play football and so to be recognized as an All-Star and play in the All-Star Game and represent my school and town it's a really big deal," said Hayley, a 6-2, 200 pound inside linebacker, who was named to the Pac 7 All-League Second Team Defense.

"I guess it means I worked really hard to be an All-Star. It's just going to be fun to play this game with all my friends and all the other All-Stars," added Madrigal, who led the league with 1,553 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns. The 5-11, 185 pound Madrigal, along with Kerns, a 6-2, 285 pound linemen, scored both All-League First Team Offense and All-CIF Northern Division First Team honors.

Katz, a 6-1, 255 pound lineman, was named to the All-League Second Team Offense, while Paqueno earned a spot on the First Team Defense as a safety.

The Bearcats partnered with Paso Robles car dealership San Luis Bay Motors, which donated money toward the $20,000 car raffle that will awarded at the All-Star Game. "San Luis Bay Motors is always here to support our local programs. So we try to help them out whenever we can," said sales representative Kevin Roberts of San Luis Bay Motors.

KSBY Sports will unveil more All-Stars every Tuesday.
