Officers arrest five people as part of a coordinated prostitution sting in Pismo Beach and Grover Beach.
Police officers from Pismo Beach and Grover Beach, along with a San Luis Obispo District Attorney Investigator conducted a sting on Sunday, designed to target prostitution.
Investigators say they contacted several subjects using phone numbers listed on Web sites like Craiglist and in newspaper advertisements commonly used to solicit prostitution. Those subjects were then asked to come to two separate hotels, one in Pismo Beach and another in Grover Beach. That's where officers say undercover investigators and surveillance equipment were waiting. Four women and one male were arrested.
Detectives said the sting came about after they received a tip. " The police department had received information about prostitution going on in the area. We also read an online poll on one of the specific websites stating that Pismo Beach is one of the best places to participate in prostitution," said Pismo Beach Police detective Chris Trimble.
Investigators said four people were arrested and booked in to the San Luis Obispo County jail in connection to the prostitution sting. They were identified as Dianna Rocha, Robyn Nava, Audrianna Powell and Charles Taylor.
A fifth person, Danielle Hoover, was arrested then cited and released from the Grover Beach Police Department.
If you have information about suspected prostitution in your area, please call your local police department or Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP.
