The San Luis Obispo Blues never trailed the visiting Neptune Beach Pearl on Sunday in their 10-5 win at Sinsheimer Stadium. The Blues won their second-straight game to improve to 18-10.
The Blues scored 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning. Brandon Carr and Taylor Anderson recorded run-scoring hits to plate the first two runs. Carr later scored when the catcher's throw to second base to get the runner trickled away from the shortstop.
Dylan Munger earned the win for the Blues on his 20th birthday. The sophomore left-handed pitcher from UAB allowed one earned run and 3 hits in 4 innings. He struck out 2. Chase Green threw 3 solid innings of relief, allowing a solo home run to go with 3 strikeouts.
The Blues blew open the game with a 6-run sixth inning. Taylor Anderson doubled home a run to start the scoring. Matt Shortall followed with a run-scoring single to make it a 5-2 game. Nick Flair followed with a grand slam to give the Blues a 9-2 advantage.
Shortall and Anderson led the Blues with 2 hits apiece. Anderson drove in 2, while Flair finished with 4 RBI.
San Luis Obispo, which had lost 4 in a row before winning in come-from-behind fashion on Saturday, go for its third-straight win on Monday. The Blues host Neptune Beach at 6pm.
