Flash flood warning issued for parts of North Bay

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Sonoma and Napa counties as some creeks approach flood stage.

National Weather Service forecaster Diana Henderson says the warning comes as Willow Brook, which flows through Petaluma, topped its banks Sunday morning, causing what Henderson described as "minor flooding."

After issuing the warning for Sonoma County, forecasters expanded it to include parts of Napa County.

Henderson says the warnings come as small creeks in the area approach what forecasters call "monitor" stage or reach flood stage, though none of the major rivers in the area are expected to flood.

During the warning, forecasters are warning people to stay away from underpasses and other low-lying areas.
