Marc Flores clubbed a towering shot over the right-center field wall for his sixth home run of the summer to lead the San Luis Obispo Rattlers to a 9-0 win over the visiting Santa Maria Reds Thursday night.
The Rattlers completed a three-game sweep over the Reds and improved to 15-6 on the summer. They outscored the Reds by a combined score of 33-6 in the series.
Flores hit a two-run blast in the third inning to give the Rattlers a 4-0 lead. He finished with 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Recent Nipomo High graduate A.J. Campos got the Rattlers on the board in the bottom of the second inning with a basehit up the middle to score the first run of the game.
Jeff Bench earned the win to improve to 2-0. He scattered 2 hits and struck out 2 over six shutout innings. Bench did walk 6 Reds, but was able to keep them from scoring.
The Rattlers hit the road for a three game series in San Diego. They play the Waves at Escondido High School at 6 pm Friday and Saturday evenings.
