The Lompoc Flower Festival has been going strong for more than 50 years now. It offers entertainment for the young and old alike, and it is a familiar place for people who call Lompoc home.
For others, it serves as a reunion they would not miss for the world.
"Just the whole thing, the comraderie, just everything, it's just fun to be here," said Betty Paisola, who has lived in Lompoc for 40 years. "You see old friends and new friends, and it's just a good time."
Paisola's husband was the principal at Lompoc High School before he passed.
She has deep roots in the community and a deep love for the Flower Festival.
She meets friends like Angela Paulson here every year.
"I thoroughly miss Lompoc and I want to come back," said Paulson, who left Lompoc for Oregon four years ago.
Still, she makes the trip back every year to meet Paisola and other friends.
"The Flower Festival is my favorite thing to do every year," said Paulson.
So whether it is the arts and crafts or the good food and great friends, it is a festival that keeps people coming back each and every year.
"They have a lot of things here for sale that are priced really nice, and it's really fun, a lot of local artists," said Paisola. "I get to see some of the high school people that have long gone from my circle of friends, meet new ones, the Flower Festival is something to look forward to."
When the festival first started it only lasted two days.
Now it has grown into a five-day event, complete with a parade and a carnival for the kids.
