Flu vaccines decrease a child's chances of ending up in the ICU

A CDC study finds children who get the flu shot are 74 percent less likely to end up in intensive care than those not vaccinated.

Medical records show only 18 percent of kids admitted to the ICU for the flu were fully vaccinated even though more than half were at high risk for flu related complications.

Researchers say while vaccines might not always prevent the flu, it can lessen the severity of symptoms.
