PASO ROBLES, Calif. - The Paso Robles football team could be primed for a big season this fall. The Bearcats bring back as much talent as any team on the Central Coast, 15 returning starters in all, from a team that finished with seven wins and a CIF postseason appearance a year ago.
"This team, it feels like all the planets we're aligned," said senior Michael Horne. "This team has the talent, has the heart, and has the will to go the distance if we want to."
Wide Receiver Bailey Gaither will likely lead the way again on offense. The senior averaged over 21 yards per reception as a junior and proved as versatile as any area player. He caught eight touchdowns through the air, added another on the ground, and even threw for a score in 2013.
Paso Robles returns eight starters from a defense that allowed just over 23 points per game a season ago.
"I feel like we have the heart because we demonstrate it in practice," said Horne. "We demonstrate the heart lifting and we demonstrate the heart everyday as a team."
The Bearcats open regular season play at Clovis on Friday. They begin PAC-5 play against Arroyo Grande on October 10th.
