A former Arroyo Grande resident is dead, allegedly murdered by her estranged husband. Melinda Yager's body was found about a block from her home in Paonia, Colorado near some train tracks on Friday.

Yager's husband, 38-year-old Nathan Yager turned himself into authorities Saturday. He's being held on a charge of first degree murder as an act of domestic violence. Police say the Yagers were going through a divorce. More than one source says the two were in court Friday morning, and that Melinda had once tried to get a permanent restraining order against her husband.

Yager's family still lives here on the Central Coast. KSBY received several emails Sunday from local residents devastated by the news. Yager had a 1-year-old daughter who has been released to the custody of family members.
