Former Mission Prep and Cuesta standout Alex Detz is tearing it up for Mississippi State. The junior infielder leads the team with a .475 batting average and 17 RBI.
The left-handed hitting infielder hit .611 in six games last week with 9 RBI for the 3rd ranked Bulldogs, who are off to an 18-0 start.
The 5-11 Detz has drawn 15 walks and struck out just 7 times. He has a staggering .607 on-base percentage.
Detz was a two-time All-Western State Conference infielder at Cuesta in 2011 and 2012. He hit .324 with 32 RBI and a .451 on-base percentage his sophomore year for the Cougars.
He plays on the Bulldogs with Nick Flair, Chad Girodo and Trey Porter. The three also played together last summer with the San Luis Obispo Blues.
