A man who made a lasting impact on the California Mid-State Fair has died. Mid-state fair officials say former fair CEO Maynard Potter passed away in Idaho Friday. He was 70-years-old.
Potter was the CEO of the Mid-State Fair for 25 years. Under his leadership, the fair officials say the fair evolved from a small county attraction to one of the biggest happenings in Central California. He retired as CEO back in 1993 and moved to Idaho with his wife.
Potter leaves behind a wife, four children and six grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held in Emmett, Idaho this Friday.
