The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office announced Monday that John Mathieson, 35, of Santa Barbara, pleaded no contest last week to one count of felony embezzlement.
Mathieson was a manager at the Fiesta 5 Theatre on State Street in Santa Barbara. The DA's Office says he admitted to stealing nearly $5,200 in cash from the theater between April 1, 2013 and June 2, 2013. They say he also admitted to destroying paperwork to cover up the theft and an investigation found that he disabled security cameras which were monitoring the area where the thefts took place.
Mathieson will be sentenced on November 21.
